This was my favorite moment from the 2014 Salt Lake City Comic-Con.
The Con had dozens of amazing celebrity guests.
Me being a poor college kid, I can’t can’t quite justify $70 for a picture with someone and having only a tiny moment with them. I’ve been burned before doing photo ops that were great but left me feeling slightly bummed.
This year my favorite color artist Elizabeth Breitweiser came and had a table. She’s worked on captain America, Winter Soldier, Fatale, Velvet and several other projects.
I showed up late on Friday and missed her while she was on break. On Saturday I caught her at her table with no one there. I went over and started talking to her and tried to contain myself from trying not to nerd over her too much. She was so awesome. She signed a few books I brought and then we talked for like 45 minutes. We talked about how she got in comics, stuff she’s working on and the process. We even talked about TV for a while. I told her about what I’m doing in school and how I want to do comics. She gave a bunch of great advice and suggestions on where to start and what to work on and learn.
She was so awesome, nice and inspirational.
So I made my biggest Con/art buy I’ve ever made. She had some amazing captain America, Velvet and Winter Soldier pages that were so beautiful and tempting but I had to get this page from Fatale. I love it so much and its one of a kind.
I’m working full time and going to school full time and its been kicking my butt. Talking to her has motivated me to push harder in writing, drawing and now coloring comics.
Meeting and talking to her has been my favorite con experience so far and surpasses when I met Stan Lee at last year’s con.
Finished my Nerd punk battle vest. This was my first one so it’s a bit sloppy in some parts but i’m still pretty stoked on it. Because…Hawkguy
I love mutants, but i love plot twists even more. I think a better beginning to House of M would have been if Scarlet Witch wished away Bieber rather than mutants.
The start of my battle vest. I’ve got some on the front already. #hawkguy
I originally drew this at work a while ago but decided to go over it on my tablet. Read this as a 2 page, left side then right side. It’s called “The Brooklyn Pig”. My love letter to my favorite action heroes and their cliches. Might make this into a web comic or somethin.
I decked my cup in Hawkeye stuff. Or hawkguy if you will. Just cause. (ps. Read Hawkeye) (pps. No I will never shut up about that book)
I had no idea pokemon had a bad side of town. I had to kill a guy with a trident
I was at salt lake comic con and had Jake parker do a Hawkeye commission for me. Just got it in the mail today and I love it! Check out his tumblr @mrjakeparker. He’s awesome!
I cosplayed as Hawkeye at the 1st Salt Lake City Comic Con 9/8/13. I went for as much detail as i could matching David Aja’s hawkguy. bruising and bandage placement, even the stubble. I made my own Boomerang arrow as well. because… boomerangs. I had a lot of fun and there were a few people who stopped me cause they knew exactly what i was going for. This was my first cosplay and it was freakin awesome and fun.
I cosplayed as Hawkguy at the Salt lake Comic Con. I specifically went as Matt fractions and David Aja’s Clint Barton. So i did a lot of bandages accurate to how and where he has them in the series. i did not realize how much hair it would take off. i have a few bald patches on my arms now. Nerd wounds.
